2017 Season League Alignments

Cardinals News - 17th January 2017

The BAFA National League have announced the league alignment for the 2017 season and the Cardinals will continue to compete at the UK's third level - the Southern Football Conference 2 East (SFC II East).

With a couple of team changes taking place for next season the alignment confirmation will see the Ipswich side compete against some established names, one new team, and continue rivalries from last season. The Cardinals will take on the Essex Spartans, London Blitz B and the Wembley Stallions who are all very competitive sides and were in the SFC 2 East last season. New to the division will be the East Kent Mavericks who have been re-aligned from SFC 2 South to our division for the 2017 campaign and they take the place of the promoted Cambridgeshire Cats. The Mavericks are a long established side and will be one to look out for this season as they continue to be a very competitive team after a 8-2 season in 2016. New to the League setup are the Southend based East Essex Sabres who replace the promoted London Hornets. The Sabres have been awarded a place in the league after completing the required associate games and with some experienced players in their roster they may be a 'dark horse' for this year's campaign.

So the SFC 2 East is looking strong again for 2017 and with the Cardinals recruiting strongly in the off season we are expecting some great match ups for the new season.

Below is the how the SFC 2 East will look:

East Essex Sabres
East Kent Mavericks
Essex Spartans
London Blitz B
Wembley Stallions

The league are due to publish the provisional 2017 fixtures in late January / early February, with league's opening weekend planned for Sunday 9th April 2017, and the finalised fixtures will be posted on this website at a future date.
