Chris 'Butch' Butcher - Cardinals #76

Cardinals News - 17th October 2017

Ipswich Cardinals unfortunately have extremely sad news to report. Cardinals player #76 Chris Butcher passed away yesterday.

Chris 'Butch' Butcher was a well loved and popular member of the Cardinals family. He will be huge loss to the Cardinals organisation and to all who had the pleasure of meeting him.

Chris was the "hero" son of former England football captain Terry Butcher died on Monday morning. Ex-Army Capt Christopher Butcher, who was just 35, had served in Afghanistan with the Royal Artillery.

Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.

Head Coach Sandy Francis said, "I'm shocked and saddened to wake up this morning with the news of the loss to the world of Chris Butcher. No matter what is going on in our lives, good and bad, the loss of someone close tends to put everything into perspective. The Cardinal organisation sends condolences to the Butcher family. I can honestly say that Chris was the type of human being that we all hoped we would become. I miss him already and will cherish the memories we made in the Plough, on the practise field, on the bus to games, and in my life.We should all feel blessed to have known him."

RIP Chris #76.
